Effective 20th December 2019, Retracom Insulated Panel Systems Pty Ltd (trading as Retracom Contracting) has been sold to Askin Pty Ltd. The Retracom Contracting staff and operations will relocate to facilities at Wacol and be integrated into the wider Askin business with minimal disruption to current projects.

In announcing the sale on behalf of all the Directors, Retracom Group founder Martin Porter acknowledged the many loyal customers, suppliers and employees who have been integral to the success and growth of the business over the last 35 years since humble beginnings. Martin also points out that the sale is limited to their Contracting business only and does not involve or impact any other of the Retracom Group businesses.

All parties to the sale are working hard to ensure a smooth and orderly transition that heralds a new era in insulated panel contracting within the cold storage and allied industry sectors.

It is business as usual for Retracom Hire and we will continue to provide our client's with the same quality transportable building hire options that we have in the past so please continue to contact us with Hire enquiries on 3489 4444.

How good was watching ‘Hey Hey’ on Saturday night before going out to ‘pump up the jam’ wearing stone wash jeans, a Hypercolour T-shirt and Air Jordan sneakers!!

Retracom had only been around and few years when we made this 1990 vintage unit and  like most things from the 90’s it now seems a little out-moded but nevertheless this building has stood the test of time.

All monies raised will be donated to the Hummingbird House which is QLD’s only Children’s Hospice.   The Retracom Group has been committed partners with this event for the past 7 years.

Join the Convoy at Forest Lake and head to the Redcliffe Showgrounds where there will be FREE rides, petting zoo for the kids, there will also be raffles, auctions and live entertainment. Grab a bite to eat and a drink at the bar.

Newcold Advance Cold Logistics Melbourne 2 – Chilled Storage Facility Project

Retracom and SBP Australia, both specialists insulated panel installers, worked together on a joint venture at the Newcold Advanced Cold Logistics Melbourne 2 – Chilled Storage Facility, one of the largest cold stores in the southern hemisphere. 

In September 2016, both companies started the design and the production of detailed construction drawings with work on site commencing in November 2016. A team of 20 installers fitted a total of 65,745m2 of insulated panel over a 40-week period. The project, the first of its kind in Australia, consists of a state of the art, fully automated temperature controlled selective racking system, which required the construction of multiple rooms in the high bay (storage) building, with link tunnels to the low bay building, which incorporated receival docks, loading docks, offices, battery charge rooms, freezer and cheese rooms.

The sheer size and complexity of a temperature-controlled facility of this nature, required Retracom and SBP Australia to draw on their extensive knowledge in the construction of cold storage facilities to enable the project to be successfully completed.

Retracom Contracting is pushing the boundaries of conventional construction to build an architecturally designed, energy efficient commercial premises.

New Cold 2 Project Breaking New Ground

Retracom and SPB Australia have joined forces as a Joint Venture project team to soar to new heights in the Insulated Building business.

The New Cold 2 project contracted through Hansen Yuncken will construct an insulated panel building at 38 metres high which has never been completed in Australia before.

Our experts were able to engage with many of the hundreds of attendees over the three day event and provide their knowledge and experience in demonstrating why insulated panel is the optimum product for food processing and cold storage facilities. RETRACOM EXHIBITS AT 2016 SURAT BASIN MINING AND ENERGY EXPO

With the 2016 Surat Basin Mining and Energy Expo commencing Wednesday 15 June 2016 Retracom Group of Companies is once again exhibiting at the annual Toowoomba event.

"2016 represents the sixth year that Retracom has displayed at the event and recognises the importance that events such as this play in the industry and the benefits that it delivers to the Toowoomba and Surat Basin Regions", explained Graeme Partland, Sales Manager.

Toowoomba Manager, Craig Leschke, will be in attendance, along with Graeme, for the duration of the event that concludes on Thursday afternoon, and also includes a number of Industry Briefing events throughout the City.

Mobilising NEXUS TSRC Project Offices

Retracom Hire are mobilising to establish the Toowoomba Second Range Crossing (TSRC) project main office complex at the Mort St and Hermitage Rd interchange for Nexus. These facilities and several other satellite locations will be home to Nexus during the 40 month Design and Construction phase.

The TSRC is a bypass north of Toowoomba which ensures freight can be moved efficiently to and from the Darling Downs and greater Surat Basin region and significantly improves driver safety and community amenity by removing heavy vehicles from the Toowoomba Central Business District.

Acciona Infrastructure Australia and Ferrovial Agroman Australia are in the Nexus CJV for the design and construction of the project. Nexus is a committed to a ‘greater connection’ with the community, local industry and suppliers. Retracom are proud to be associated with the project and assist Nexus in achieving its local content targets. Our Toowoomba branch office at O’Mara Rd Charlton is located immediately adjacent the Warrego Hwy West connection (pictured) and this is where the building modules are being prepared before the short haul to site.

Construction is commencing now with the roadway scheduled to open in 2018.

Steel Frame Modular Building for Dunwich Fire Station

Factory fabrication has started on steel frame modular buildings as part of refurbishment works at Dunwich Fire Station for the Queensland Fire and Emergency Services. 

The 4 off 6x3 metre modules will serve as duty offices, sleeping quarters and training facilities. Retracom are supplying to AA Dart & Co who will be installing the buildings on Stradbroke Island.

Retracom has traditionally constructed portable buildings using insulated sand wich panel however since the divestment of our panel manufacturing business to Pearl MiiHomes in 2012 we have diversified into other framing methods.

Sunshades and Awnings for Commercial Premises at Wacol

Developers, builders, architects and specifiers looking to meet the Section J Energy Efficiency requirements in the Building Code should consider the use of insulated sandwich panel awnings to achieve window shading design requirements. 

This was done on the commercial office premises at 1435 Boundary Rd Wacol to dress up the building and the results can be seen in the accompanying photo. Insulated panel sunshades are also very cost competitive compared to alternatives.

Retracom Contracting was engaged by Multispan to supply and install these sun shades and awnings. Insulated panels come standard in a range of Bluescope colours and are generally finished with powder coated aluminium extrusions.
